Since its release in 1990,

"Home Alone"

has achieved cult status like few other films.

For many, Christmas without the Macaulay Culkin comedy is almost unthinkable.

The plot of the family-friendly mega-hit: The McCallister family goes on Christmas vacation - and forgets their son Kevin in the house in a suburb of Chicago.

But that's not all: Burglars (brilliantly played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) are targeting the house.

However, the two petty criminals did the math without Kevin - because he turns the house into a burglar trap and protects the family's belongings from the gangsters.

On the film rating website IMDb, the film was rated 7.6 out of ten stars.

Fans of "Kevin - Alone at Home" know, of course, that the second part of the Kevin saga also belongs to Christmas.

Here follows

"Kevin - In New York alone"

(rated 6.8 stars on IMDB) a similar pattern - only that Kevin just not buzzing single-handedly by the family home, but by the Big Apple.

Another entertaining pleasure is the film

"Noelle"

, which is about Santa Claus' daughter.

She has big plans - because her father is retiring and her brother, who actually wants to take over Santa's job, is pinching.

So it's up to Noelle (played by Anna Kendrick) to save Christmas.

Also there are Shirley MacLaine and US comedian and actor Bill Hader.

The film was rated 6.3 out of 10 stars on IMDb.

The short stories

“Elves Help”

are particularly suitable for children

.

Disney + has three parts in its program - "Elves help - clear the way for Santa Claus", "Elves help - Christmas" and "Elves help - Mission Santa".

Everything is just right here: the characters are lovely, the animations are worth seeing, the plot is harmonious and entertaining - and due to their relatively short playing time, the little ones don't sit in front of the TV for hours.

The

“LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special”

is an entertaining treat

.

The name says it all: this is where the Star Wars universe meets Lego figures and building blocks.

Even if the word Holiday is in the title: The film doesn't really have anything to do with Christmas, but with Jedi knights, the adventures of Rey and lots of humor and winking.

The spectacle was rated 6.6 stars on IMDb.

A special highlight from the Disney universe is also the short film

"Frozen - Olaf thaws"

.

The 22-minute film is about Christmas in Arendelle.

Elsa, Anna and above all the snowman Olaf are already very much in the Christmas mood and can hardly wait for the festival - only things are not going as they should and the Christmas tradition seems to be in danger, because suddenly Olaf has disappeared.

The film, which is called “Olaf's Frozen Adventure” in the English-language original, is rated 5.5 out of 10 points on IMDb.

Disney has another in-house production with

“A Christmas Story”

(6.8 stars on IMDb).

The 3D animated film is based on a story by Charles Dickens.

US comedy icon Jim Carrey can be heard as Ebenezer Scrooge (an old, stingy man who is surprised by a ghost on Christmas morning).
