In mid-January, the first doses of corona vaccine are expected to arrive in the county.

The hope is that the vaccine will protect people in risk groups and to reduce the death toll from covid-19.

Despite this, the vaccination coordinator is worried that the resources will not be enough.

- The biggest challenge will probably be to manage it in terms of personnel, to do this large-scale vaccination and to get it in without affecting the business too much, says Ronny Lestander vaccination coordinator Region Västerbotten.

Store at -70 ° C

Several of the vaccines require special transports and must be kept frozen at -70 ° C.

Lestander believes that the vaccine survives five days after leaving the freezer, which can lead to time pressure.

- These are long distances, but we work very hard to secure transport chains, cooling facilities and peripherals that are needed to carry out the vaccinations, says Ronny Lestander.
