Hohen Neuendorf (dpa / bb) - An 80-year-old woman caught a burglar red-handed in her apartment in Hohen Neuendorf (Oberhavel).
The woman was in the living room on Wednesday evening when the man broke into the bedroom through a window that was forcibly pried open, the police said on Thursday.
The burglar, surprised by the 80-year-old, initially fled in an unknown direction.
Alarmed police officers searched the area and met a 25-year-old who was known to the police. The police reported that he had a screwdriver and a gold wristwatch with him, which the 80-year-old had identified as her property. The 25-year-old was provisionally arrested. The investigators are now checking whether the man also committed a burglary on Wednesday afternoon in a single-family house in the nearby Bergfelde district.
