The General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, in coordination with the National Emergency and Crisis Authority, and the concerned authorities, has set 11 conditions or binding procedures for those wishing to perform prayers in mosques, with the aim of protecting them and their families from any risks of contracting the virus.

On the 24th of last November, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Authority announced that Friday prayers would be allowed in mosques from today, while adhering to a set of preventive measures aimed at ensuring the health and safety of worshipers, provided that the capacity of mosques is determined at 30%.

In detail, the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments intensified its awareness and guidance programs on its electronic platforms on social media sites, as part of the campaign “Our Mosques are Safe”, before the implementation of the decision to reopen mosques in front of worshipers to perform Friday prayers, after a suspension that lasted about eight and a half months, in implementation The instructions of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Authority, within the framework of the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the state to confront the "Covid-19" pandemic, which came based on the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the fatwa of the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa, and in coordination with the federal and local religious and health authorities.

The “Our Mosques are Safe” campaign included a series of guiding messages and fatwas related to going to mosques and how to perform congregational prayers in them at the present time. The commission has identified 11 procedures or conditions, in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Authority, that worshipers must follow and adhere to when frequenting Mosques to perform Friday prayers, in order to preserve the health of everyone, the first of which is the keenness to perform ablution in homes, given that ablution is closed in all mosques, and the second is the possibility of going to the mosque 30 minutes before the Friday sermon and prayer, and not staying in the mosque during and after the prayer for more than 30 minutes.

The list of procedures and conditions also included allowing prayers in the courtyards of the outside mosques, and the obligation of all worshipers to wear masks when attending the prayer, as well as ensuring that every worshiper brings a special rug for prayer and not leaving it in the mosque, in addition to the commitment of homes to senior citizens, residents, children and sick people, in order to ensure their safety and not expose them. The possibility of infection with the Corona virus.

The conditions stressed the importance of being careful to avoid touching the exposed surfaces or the handles of mosque doors, and adhering to the guiding posters and social distancing a distance of two meters, with an emphasis on the need to perform the Sunnah in homes, and to be limited to performing the obligatory duty in the mosque, in addition to the emphasis on reading the Qur’an from the personal Qur’an of the worshipers or Their smart devices, and avoid crowding in the mosque, especially at the entrances and exits.

In its awareness-raising messages, the Commission reiterated the need for a person to stick to his home in the event that he feels any sick symptoms, and that he should not go to the mosque, in accordance with the words of the Holy Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, “No nurse is mentioned on a corrective”, stressing the imperative to be careful not to harm oneself or others On the basis of the legal rule, "No harm, no harm."

The commission stated that there is no legal embarrassment in the physical spacing between the worshipers, leaving spaces exceeding two meters between each worshiper and another, and an empty description between each two rows, stressing that the spacing at the present time does not affect the validity of the congregational prayer, but rather is a Sharia obligation in this case , With the aim of preserving the life and health of others.
