Kalmar länstrafik, Jönköpings länstrafik, Länstrafiken Kronoberg, Blekingetrafiken, Hallandstrafiken and SKånetrafiken have made a joint procurement which means that SJ will take over operation and maintenance of Krösatågen.

The procurement also includes Kustpilen, which operates the Kalmar-Linköping and Västervik-Linköping sections.

The name Kustpilen will disappear in December 2021 and instead run under the common name Krösatågen.

SJ will take over operations in December 2021.

How will passengers notice that SJ will start running the trains?

- The difference is that we become more punctual and have fewer canceled departures, we have raised the bar in the procurement, says Peter Wretlund, chairman of the public transport committee in the Kalmar County Region.

Staff sought after

It is currently unclear what will happen to the staff working on board the Krösatågen.

- From our side, we care that they are allowed to continue their mission.

But we leave the operation to a new operator and it is up to the operator to decide.

But in transitions like this, the staff is usually sought after, it is not entirely easy to find a new staff, says Peter Wretlund.

In the coming years, Krösatågen will also be replaced with new vehicles, which procurement is still ongoing.
