The detailed plan for the Travel Center in Karlstad is out for consultation and on Wednesday, the Region Värmland Public Transport Board clubbed its opinion.

In general, the region is positive about the plan, but there is concern about the traffic situation in connection with rush hour traffic, which is shared by all parties according to the regional councilor Jesper Johansson (MP).

Included in the discussions has been a regulation of car traffic during rush hour traffic, but on Wednesday the Social Democrats proposed a total stop for cars on Hamngatan between Västra Torggatan and Fredsgatan.

The writing was voted through after a vote that S won by 7-6 after V and SD voted for the Social Democrats' demand.

Tomas Riste (S), vice chairman of the public transport committee, says that they are calling for the closure to promote both public transport accessibility and pedestrian safety.

- It is a distance of 300 meters where there will be local buses and county buses on both sides.

It is not an optimal solution and therefore we must make it as safe as possible.

Värmlandssamverkan would rather see regulation at certain times

Jesper Johansson (MP), expects strong reactions to the writing.

- This is a new turn and in Värmlandssamverkan we think we should stick to the discussions that have been so far with the municipality.

He continues:

- What we have agreed on and which is stated in the proposal is that there is quite a great risk of problems in rush hour traffic and we advocated a regulation of car traffic in rush hour traffic.
