China News Service, December 2-According to Kyodo News, a relevant person in the Japanese government revealed on the 1st that the Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimoto Motegi plans to visit Mauritius, South Africa and Tunisia in December.

In Mauritius, the two sides will discuss assistance measures for Japanese cargo ship fuel spills.

On the evening of July 25, local time, a Japanese cargo ship ran aground at Cape Esny on the southeast coast of Mauritius.

Since August 6, a large amount of fuel has leaked from the ship into the sea, which may cause large-scale marine pollution.

According to reports, Motegi held a telephone meeting with Mauritian Prime Minister Jagannath in September regarding the fuel spill, saying that it would provide support to prevent recurrences, regenerate mangroves, and restore fishermen’s livelihoods.

In October, Japan sent an investigation team composed of experts.

According to analysis, this visit will combine these measures to discuss specific aid measures for Japan.

In addition, South Africa is the presidency of the African Union (AU) in 2020, and Tunisia plans to host the 8th African Development Conference (TICAD) in 2022.

Motegi will discuss with the two countries on the new crown epidemic prevention in Africa.

According to a Japanese government official, the Japanese side has coordinated with the above-mentioned countries on this visit, and Motegi will leave as soon as possible next week.
