our choice (necessarily subjective) fell on Audrey Apruzzese, a 39-year-old artist whose pen drawings enhance the heritage and architecture of the city.

  • Les Terreaux, Bellecour and even the Brotteaux station have come under his pencil strokes, as have many private buildings that individuals have wanted to see drawn by the artist.

The windows of his studio overlook the Place des Terreaux, offering a breathtaking view of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Lyon Town Hall.

An ideal location for Audrey Apruzzese who dedicates her work to the architecture and heritage of the city.

This 39-year-old Lyonnaise is one of the popular designers in Lyon, a city she sees as an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

“I am a baby from Lyon, I was born in Croix-Rousse.

I grew up in this city and then I did part of my studies in art history there ”, confides the artist to

Then she joined Saint-Etienne, where she followed a course in artistic practices and went to the Fine Arts of Salamanca in Spain.

Once your studies are finished, coming back to Lyon is obvious.

Her return to the City of Lights marks a turning point for the young woman, who until then intended for teaching.

“I like the transmission.

But after seven years of study, I couldn't see myself staying at school, ”adds this bubbly brunette, who has managed to combine her passion for architecture with her need for human contact.

“I am a girl of the field, of action.

I wanted to go out and meet people and the desire to create an applied art in the service of others ”, underlines the Lyonnaise.

One-shot pen drawing

For each of her works, she goes there to soak up the place and photograph the site.

Back in her studio, she accurately sketches the chosen monument or residence.

“I remain exact on the proportions.

It's important to tell the story ”.

Once the sketch is completed, she gives free rein to her artistic freedom.

Her blue pen in her hand, she draws and completes her work.

“It's a one-shot drawing, by hand, there's no going back.

It's a challenge that I like to take up, ”says Audrey, whose clients come from many backgrounds.

The young woman works to order as well for institutions and companies, which want to highlight their building or their site, as for individuals, anxious to see sublimate their home by the artist "What makes me happy, it is what will trigger my drawing in people.

A memory, an emotion.

By telling a building, we tell a story.

"

Audrey Apruzzese, a 39-year-old Lyonnaise, wishes to promote heritage and architecture through her drawings.

But no question for the young woman to make of her drawings elitist works.

“The land belongs to everyone.

My education and my Mediterranean origins instilled in me the values of hospitality and sharing.

We cannot produce what we are not, ”she believes, anxious to achieve“ great services accessible to all ”.

In recent years, the most prestigious monuments and sites in Lyon, like Place Bellecour, the Grand Hôtel-Dieu, the courthouse or even Place Sathonay, have come under his pen.

Drawings sold in multiple formats, from the large single or numbered canvas (around 1,500 euros) to the postcard (6 euros), including the poster (39 euros) or the tote bag.

"I like the idea that a child can have his postcard and a CEO a large board in his office."

His drawings, sold on his site, are also offered in various Lyon boutiques, such as Hyppairs (1st), a place to live and shop inspired by travel.

For the rest, the young woman has no shortage of ideas.

After Lyon, the artist would like to promote other French and international cities.

The first of them will be Paris, where she did a photo shoot a year ago to tell the story of the capital in drawings.

"But since then, I have worked in Lyon, I have not yet found the time to immerse myself in it", laughs the illustrator, whose end of the year promises to be just as busy.

From December 11 to January 3, it will be on display at the pop-up store installed in the courtyard of the Grand Hôtel-Dieu.

An appointment that she looks forward to to indulge in one of her favorite activities: sharing with the public.
