Kiel (dpa / lno) - 26 residents and 12 employees tested positive for Corona in a Kiel retirement and nursing home.

For the entire facility, in which 131 people live, the health department had initially ordered a quarantine for the next 14 days, the city announced on Wednesday evening.

The office assumes that even more residents and employees could be infected.

The house may not be entered until further notice - with the exception of doctors and nurses in protective clothing.

How the virus was carried into the facility was still unclear. Kiel's health department head Gerwin Stöcken said, according to the announcement: "We will analyze this outbreak, because we must also use it to understand more precisely how the virus got into the facility." This could prevent similar outbreaks in other facilities.
