Weingarten (dpa / lsw) - In the event of a carbon monoxide leak in a single-family house in Weingarten (Ravensburg district), a resident rescued a woman who was lying unconscious in the cellar.

The fire department announced on Wednesday that he accompanied another woman with health problems out of the house.

In addition, he opened the window during his rescue operation on Tuesday lunchtime.

It is assumed that the carbon monoxide concentration was previously life-threatening, it said.

The two women were taken to a hospital in Ravensburg.

In order to determine the cause of the gas leak, the suspended ceiling in the cellar was sawn open and checked by the chimney sweep, among other things.

A leaky pipe in the chimney was found to be the cause, said the fire department.
