Berlin (dpa) - The Berlin Volleys have surprisingly become active again on the transfer market and have signed the French international Kevin Le Roux for the middle block.

The club announced on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old was last without a club.

He is expected for the medical check in Berlin at the beginning of next week.

Only then does the contract become valid.

The new signing is also a reaction of the BR Volleys to their ongoing injury misery.

"We decided to expand the squad and thus distribute the burden on several shoulders," said manager Kaweh Niroomand.

Le Roux is 2.09 meters tall.

He has played more than 200 international matches for France.

Last season he played for Beijing BAIC Motors in China.

After a back injury, he last stayed fit in Italy at GSB Piacenza.

With the two Brazilians Eder Carbonera and Renan Michelucci and the German national player Anton Brehme, the BR Volleys had already completely repositioned themselves in the middle block for the 2020/21 season.

Jeffrey Jendryk and Nicolas Le Goff, who previously played in this position, left the capital club in the summer, and Georg Klein ended his active career.
