United States: Joe Biden promises to help all Americans affected by the crisis

Twelve million Americans will no longer receive unemployment benefits at the end of the month.

And this as the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the United States.

President-elect Joe Biden, who introduced his economics team on Tuesday, called for Congress to pass an immediate envelope and pledged he would help Americans tackle the crisis as soon as he arrives to the White House.

 To Americans who are struggling right now, our message is this: Help is coming, 

" promised Joe Biden.

And Janet Yellen, nominated for the post of Secretary of the Treasury, added: “ 

So many people are struggling to put food on the table, to pay their bills and their rent, it is an American tragedy.


But in a stark contrast, the Secretary of the Treasury has touted the successes of the US economy to Congress and called for the lifting of containment measures, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the country.


The unemployment rate has fallen to 6.9%, a rate that we did not expect to reach before the first quarter of 2021,

” said Steve Mnuchin. 

But new containment measures are preventing this remarkable progress and seriously hurting American businesses and workers.


The president of the Central Bank, he considers that the

increase in cases of coronavirus

is worrying.

This could pose new challenges to the economy, said Jerome Powell, who pleads, like the democratic president-elect, for a new aid plan to be quickly adopted.
