It was in September 2018 that police were called to the restaurant in the center of Härnösand.

The innkeeper was found bloody with a large wound to the head and the area was cordoned off.

It turned out that an employee had attacked the owner, but the information about how the damage had occurred was very different.

A knife, a thrown plate and fists were said to have been used.

According to the owner, the origin of the quarrel was that the employee was asked not to eat in the kitchen.

According to the employee, the quarrel concerned a debt to him of SEK 59,000.

"Get away incredibly cheaply"

Ångermanland District Court concluded that the 48-year-old employee was guilty of assault and sentenced him to two months in prison.

- He got away incredibly cheaply.

I am surprised about the outcome, about the headings and how they have reasoned in the district court, said prosecutor Jens Göransson and appealed the verdict to a higher court.

Two years in prison

On Tuesday, the Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland announced its decision.

The court now follows the prosecutor's line and classifies the act as aggravated assault.

This is because the 48-year-old showed special ruthlessness and rudeness when he used a knife and then hit the restaurant owner in the head when he was lying down.

The sentence is increased to two years in prison and deportation.

The 48-year-old is forbidden to return to the country for the next ten years.
