Suhl (dpa / th) - According to the Thuringian Forest regional association, the lift operators in the Thuringian ski areas are currently plagued by great existential worries.

This became clear on Tuesday at the winter kick-off event, which was held virtually due to the corona, with representatives of the 34 winter sports locations, said the regional association in Suhl.

The corona aid currently available would relate to the sales from the previous year in the compensation.

In the very bad winter season 2019/2020, many operators would not have been able to generate any relevant sales in November and December of last year and would now possibly have missed out.

Because of the corona pandemic, leisure facilities must remain closed until December 20th.

This also includes lifts, ice rinks and ski areas.

How it can then continue is currently unclear.

Nevertheless, it was agreed that the cross-country trails should be prepared when there was a natural snow cover of at least 25 centimeters.

But here too, individual compliance with the hygiene rules will be a basic requirement to ensure that the risk of infection does not increase.

With a view to the delayed start of the season, the representatives of the winter sports resorts in the Thuringian Forest want to exchange information regularly over the next few weeks.

According to the regional association, the next large-scale vote is planned for the end of December.
