Chinanews.com, Beijing, December 1 (Reporter Zhang Su) After responding to the Australian side in a series of rhetorical questions at a regular press conference on November 30, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying pointed out again after one day: The Australian side has such a strong reaction to the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s cartoons about the Australian army killing Afghan children on social platforms. The real purpose is to use the painting to divert attention, avoid contradictions, and transfer pressure.

A few days ago, Australian Prime Minister Morrison asked China to apologize for the cartoon of the Australian army killing Afghan children on Twitter by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhao Lijian, saying it was “fake” and China should “feel ashamed”.11 On the 30th, the official Weibo of the Australian Embassy and Consulate in China also stated that “a fake picture of an Australian soldier was circulated on Weibo”.

Some reporters asked China's views accordingly.

Hua Chunying replied that Australia accused China of using fake or false photos, and the accusation itself was false.

Because what is circulating on the Internet is not a photo, but an illustration drawn by a young Chinese man using a computer.

Illustrations and fake photos are different concepts.

Hua Chunying further pointed out that this illustration is based on a confirmed investigation report by the Australian Ministry of Defense. Although it is a painting, it reflects facts.

She also mentioned that the illustrator said in an interview, "Mr. Morrison, what you soldiers did is much crueler than the paintings I drew."

Hua Chunying then showed reporters several photos she downloaded and printed out from the Internet, as well as relevant reports from the Australian Ministry of Defense.

These contents are all released by the Australian side, "I think these may be real, not fake." She said.

Hua Chunying further pointed out that many Chinese people are wondering why some people in Australia would react to this incident in such a surprising and strong manner, and behave violently.

I think the real purpose is nothing more than to divert attention, avoid contradictions, and pass on pressure through painting, in an attempt to transform the criticism and accusation of the Australian military for killing innocent Afghan civilians by international public opinion into a show of strength and hardline against China.

Hua Chunying also talked about an article she read "I can, you can't, why?

", and pointed out by the title that some people always treat China with the mentality of "I can, you can't".

For example, she said, in terms of technology, I can have 5G, but you cannot; economically, I can surpass you, but you cannot; in public opinion, I can openly attack you, openly support "Tibet independence", openly support "Taiwan independence", and openly Support the separatist forces in Xinjiang, openly support the Hong Kong opposition and violent lawbreakers, but you can’t.

She said frankly that this "I can, you can't" mentality reflects the arrogance and hypocrisy of individual or some people, and its true purpose is to deprive China of the right to tell the truth.

Hua Chunying said that when dealing with the question of what is false information, we hope that relevant people can calm down, think rationally, view China and China’s development calmly and rationally, and take constructive actions to work with China to face the problem directly and properly. Solve problems and jointly maintain the healthy development of the relationship.

"I think this truly meets the expectations of the people, and it also truly meets the fundamental and long-term interests of the countries concerned," she said.

Another reporter mentioned that New Zealand has raised concerns with China on this matter.

Hua Chunying said that she was surprised when she saw relevant reports, "What does this matter have to do with the New Zealand side? Does the New Zealand side approve, agree or even support Australia's approach?" She raised a rhetorical question.

Hua Chunying added that if necessary, China can provide the aforementioned report and pictures to New Zealand. "The facts, right and wrong are all very clear." (End)
