(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Direct flights between Nepal and the capitals of India will restart

China News Agency, Kathmandu, December 1 (Reporter Zhang Chenyi) According to the news announced by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation of Nepal on the 1st, direct international flights between the Nepalese capital Kathmandu and the Indian capital New Delhi will restart next week.

According to Budi, the joint secretary of the ministry, the relevant preparations have been basically completed, and direct international flights between Kathmandu and New Delhi will be restarted in the next 7 to 10 days.

"The relevant Indian authorities previously sent us the resumption plan through diplomatic channels for negotiation. This is our positive response to the Indian side." He said.

According to current arrangements, Nepal and India will each arrange an airline to fly the route.

If the number of flights in the future cannot meet the travel needs of passengers, both parties will consider increasing the number of flights.

To prevent and control the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Nepal decided to suspend ordinary international flights in late March.

On September 1, some international flights to and from Nepal resumed operations.

However, in view of the severe epidemic in India, the routes from Kathmandu to New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore have not been restored.

Up to now, Nepal has resumed international flights with 16 countries.

However, due to the small number of passengers, the daily average number of flights departing from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu has dropped from about 25 sorties in early September to about 20 sorties recently.

The number of international tourists directly determines the rise and fall of Nepal's tourism industry. This is also a background factor for the Nepalese government to continuously promulgate various policies that facilitate the arrival of international tourists to Nepal.

Nepal’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Batlay recently stated that Nepal’s tourism industry has recovered at the end of this year and is expected to return to normal in 2022.

The General Administration of Civil Aviation of India announced in late November that it decided to extend the suspension of international flights to and from India until December 31 this year.

Therefore, the restoration of the Kathmandu-New Delhi route will also be one of India's few international routes that can operate normally.
