On Monday, Joe Biden received his first secret security briefing as an elected US president, and revealed his economic team a week after the announcement of his security and diplomatic teams.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin and Arizona ratified the election results, with Biden winning.

This confidential daily security briefing - provided by the intelligence services - concerns the ongoing developments in the world, and the threats to US national security and the country's interests.

This is in order for the president to be ready to confront it when he officially takes office on January 20 next.

President Donald Trump had refused in the past two weeks for Biden to receive these intelligence briefings, due to his doubts about his opponent's victory in the presidential elections that took place on the third of last month, and his contestation of the results of several states that the Democratic candidate won.

On Monday, US President-elect Joe Biden revealed the names of candidates for prominent economic positions in his administration, including the Secretary of the Treasury, after Biden chose a women's team to manage communications at the White House.

Biden nominated Janet Yellen for the position of Treasury Secretary (Finance), who during the term of former Democratic President Barack Obama the post of Chair of the Federal Reserve Board (the central bank).

He also nominated President-elect Adiwale Adiemo to be the first Deputy Treasury Secretary of African descent, with Nira Tandin to head the Office of Management and Budget, and Cecilia Rouse to chair the Council of Economic Advisers.

Al Jazeera correspondent in Delaware Fadi Mansour said that Janet is highly respected in Washington, and if confirmed by Congress, it will be the first time that a woman will hold this position in the federal government.

Biden had announced - earlier - his contact group at the White House, which will be exclusively female, which his office described as the first team of its kind in the country's history.

Jane Saki has been appointed as the White House spokeswoman, and Kate Bedingfield is the White House communications director in his next administration.

Saki held prominent positions during the administration of former President Barack Obama, including director of communications at the White House and spokesperson for the State Department.

The appointment of Jane Saki as the White House spokeswoman sparked a negative reaction in Russia, with some media describing her as a thirst for sanctions against Russia.

States ratify results

Meanwhile, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers Monday confirmed that Democrat Joe Biden had won the state's votes in the US presidential election.

Evers said in a statement, "Today I fulfilled my duty to certify the outcome of the November 3 election, and as required by state and federal law, I signed the certification certificate on the electoral lists for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris."

The Wisconsin Election Commission confirmed Biden's victory in the state, after two counties recount.

Arizona also certified the presidential election results;

To officially grant 11 electoral college votes for President-elect Joe Biden.

"Today we signed the results of the 2020 elections in Arizona," Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey said in a tweet on Twitter, the state in which for the first time in 25 years a Democratic candidate won the presidential election.

Formally certifying the results of the Arizona presidential election does not necessarily close the door to the possibility of challenging them in the courts;

This mandate allows for results to be appealed even after they are approved.

Other states - including Iowa, Nebraska and Montana - are expected to endorse the presidential election result.

Trump justification

On the other hand, President Trump said - in a tweet on Twitter - that he is not fighting for himself, but for the sake of 74 million people who voted for him, in addition to those who voted for him, in justification for his continuation in the battle of judicial appeals to the election results in a number of states. Despite losing all the lawsuits (39 cases) until now.

On Sunday, Trump ruled out that the US Supreme Court would consider any of the appeals filed by his campaign against the results of the presidential elections, after his campaign lost most of its legal battles to challenge the election results at the state level.

It should be noted that the date of December 11 is the last deadline for all US states to ratify the results of the presidential elections, and on the 14th of the same month, representatives of the Electoral College meet in their states and cast their votes for the President of the United States, according to the results of the ballot.
