The regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, inaugurates the Isabel Zendal Nursing Hospital today, which has been built in record time - only 3 months and 10 days - in an event that the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, will not attend, despite being invited .
The Isabel Zendal is a permanent use emergency health center whose main objective
will be to decongest the rest of the centers in the region so that they can resume their normal non-Covid activity.
For the construction of the Hospital,
5.3 million kilos of steel
have been
needed
, 16.1 kilometers of piles that are part of its foundations (more than 1,000 piles) and 100,000 cubic meters of earth have been moved.
During the works, a total of 635 companies and
1,350 workers participated simultaneously, organized into three work shifts that covered 24 hours and seven days a week.
The construction of this hospital will cost
around 100 million euros
, an amount higher than initially estimated due to the introduction of a series of initially unforeseen improvements.
Among them, the built area has been increased;
from the 56,000 square meters in the preliminary project to 80,000;
o The multi-purpose sanitary building has been increased by 2,000 square meters due to the incorporation of the SUMMA112 Coordination Center and
the Regional Public Health Laboratory, whose complexity is greater than the initially planned administrative area
(requires security systems, specific supplies, more complex equipment, etc).
The emergency hospital has been the target of criticism from leftist parties and unions, and in fact the spokespersons for
Más Madrid, Podemos and PSOE have declined the invitation of the regional government to attend its opening.
The Hospital will have 1,008 hospital beds organized in a modular way around Nursing controls and 48 beds for ICUs, of which
16 are for intensive care and 32 for intermediate care.
That is, a total of 1,056 beds.
It will have the most advanced ICU in the Community of Madrid, with negative pressure capacity, individual posts, glass panels so that the patient can be monitored from the nursing control and lock systems with
double automatic doors to guarantee the safety of the health workers.
