A woman who pretended to be a terminally-stage cancer patient and cheated on her friends paid the price.

On the 29th of last month local time, British Metro and other foreign media reported that 29-year-old Tony Standon was convicted of fraud.

In February 2019, Standen informed his friends that he had planned a marriage and was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, and that it has spread to bones and organs, which is a serious condition.

In addition, my dad is dying of cancer, and even one of the two complained that he wanted to walk into the wedding hall together before he died.

The shocked acquaintances immediately began to unite.

He raised money for medical treatment and weddings, and delivered a total of 8,500 pounds (approximately 12.6 million won) of donations from the online fundraising site GoFundMe to Standen.

However, some of my friends felt something strange on the day of their wedding.

When I went to the wedding hall, Standon's father had already died, and even after seeing the desperate video letter he left in his life, he even joked and talked without a sign of sadness.

It is also known that they only stopped briefly in Turkey for their honeymoon, and Standon and her 52-year-old husband James returned to England through Germany, the Czech Republic, Australia, Hungary, and Italy.

It was clearly a difficult schedule for terminally ill cancer patients to digest.

Then, at the beginning of this year, Standon's personal Facebook page said,'Standen is dead.

There was a post saying'Please mourn', but after a while there was an incident explaining that the account was hacked.

In addition to this, Standen has constantly disclosed the current situation that induces'interest' of acquaintances, such as saying that he was cured after suffering from Corona 19.

Two friends who were still suspicious ended up calling Standon in April with recording turned on and asking, "Is this really cancer?"

Standon then cried and confided that everything was a lie, and his friends immediately filed a recording to the police and sued Standen for fraud.

Last week, Standon was convicted of fraud in the Chester Magistrate's Court for fraudulent actions he committed from February 2019 to April 2020.

"This is the worst betrayal," said Sheryl Aston, who is a friend of Standon's college.

He added, "If the donation from Go Fund Me is returned, I will donate it to a cancer charity," he added. "There must be light at the end of this terrible story."

Standon's older brother will be sentenced at a later date.
