Do the Jusos have an anti-Semitism problem?

This is what the “Bild” asked after the SPD's youth organization passed a resolution at its federal congress in which it expressed solidarity with the “Fatah youth”.

Formally correct, the Jusos describe the Fatah youth as a "sister organization".

Both are members of the "International Union of Socialist Youth" (IUSY), together with honorable associations such as the youth organizations of the Israeli Meretz Party or the party of the opposition Iranian Kurds.

However, there are black sheep in every international political grouping, and that includes the Fatah youth in IUSY.

Their logo shows a map of the Holy Land on which Israel does not exist.

She celebrates the use of suicide bombers at demonstrations.

She runs summer camps where children are encouraged to “prove themselves worthy of the blood of martyrs”.

Which is not surprising, because the Fath youth is controlled by the Fatah party, which formally recognizes Israel's right to exist, but in fact thwarted the peace process with its terrorist organizations Tanzin and Martyrs Brigades, and that with the radical Islamist Hamas by forming a joint government negotiated.

In 2012, the then SPD General Secretary Andrea Nahles received a representative from Fatah and then reaffirmed the “common values” and the “strategic partnership” between the SPD and Fatah.

At that time, Fatah had observer status with the Socialist International (SI), of which the SPD was a member.

In the meantime, the situation has reversed at the SI.

Not least on the initiative of the then party leader Sigmar Gabriel, the SPD has withdrawn to observer status, while Fatah has become a full member.

Instead of repeating the mistakes of Andrea Nahles, the Jusos would do well to follow the example of Sigmar Gabriel.

Nobody objects if Jusos and Falken talk to the Fatah youth.

Nobody is asking them to endorse the policies of the Israeli government.

But solidarity with those who glorify terror goes too far.

Do the Jusos have an anti-Semitism problem?

If they do not correct their mistake, then one has to accept it.
