November 30, 2020 The Rome Prosecutor's Office is ready to close the investigation into the case of Giulio Regeni, the Friulian researcher kidnapped, tortured and killed in 2016 in Egypt against five Egyptian 007 members of National Security accused of kidnapping.

This is what the chief prosecutor of Rome Michele Prestipino communicated to the Attorney General of Egypt during a new meeting. "The Attorney General of Egypt, taking note of the conclusion of the Italian preliminary investigations, has reservations - reads a joint note from the two judicial offices - on the solidity of the evidential framework which he believes consists of insufficient evidence to support the accusation in court. In any case, the public prosecutor of Egypt respects the decisions that will be taken, in its autonomy, by the public prosecutor of Rome ".
