Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg Chamber of Students has spoken out against corona-related lessons that are held digitally at home and face-to-face at school.

State chairman Henry Behrens said on Monday that anyone demanding such a hybrid lesson at the moment did not understand the seriousness of the situation.

The educational mandate cannot be fully fulfilled in this way.

"Today we see the damage caused by the school closure in the spring."

Many students would have to rework the material from the last school year and would need face-to-face support from a teacher.

"If you only let these students go to school for a week, the loss of school material would not be made up for," warned Behrens.

Because children and young people from precarious backgrounds are harder hit by the crisis, there is already a "big social gap in education".

According to Behrens, the current hygiene measures are sensible and effective if they are applied consistently.

"Wearing a mask is disruptive, but just as reasonable as regular ventilation."

Hybrid lessons should therefore only be given in an extreme emergency, but this has not yet occurred.
