Cologne (dpa) - The Dorint hotel group has submitted urgent applications to the Federal Constitutional Court against what it sees as insufficient compensation for the corona measures.

The compensation that was not paid out on time would endanger the very existence of an entire industry, announced the hotel company, which has 4,500 employees and is based in Cologne, on Monday.

With a loss of 14.3 million euros compared to November 2019, initially only an advance payment of 10,000 euros is planned as compensation.

The maximum amount is also capped at one million euros - any aid going beyond this would supposedly first have to be coordinated with the EU.

The compensation is mandatory and must therefore be paid in a timely and appropriate manner, according to Supervisory Board Chairman Dirk Iserlohe. After all, the ban on accommodation is an interference with the freedom of occupation. That is why a constitutional complaint was submitted with six main motions and two urgent motions. Many entrepreneurs are now “at a crossroads”, says Iserlohe. Either the legislature compensated quickly, or they would have to give up their livelihoods.
