Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - When buying fruit and vegetables, some consumers may have been surprised by the changed prices: As the State Statistical Office IT.NRW announced on Monday, grapes were on average 24.4 percent more expensive in November than in the same month last year It was 20.3 percent for tomatoes and 10.1 percent for apples.

Other foods were cheaper: the price of potatoes was 14.3 percent and that of peppers was 5.8 percent.

Overall, according to statisticians, consumer prices in North Rhine-Westphalia fell by 0.4 percent compared to November 2019. The decline may also have been due to the fact that mineral oil products were 16.2 percent cheaper than before.
