Minister Francesco Boccia says this to Rainews24 about possible exceptions for travel to allow family reunification at Christmas for those who live in different regions.

"To avoid the third wave we must continue in December with the rigor and social distancing that must prevail over any need. Many of us have relatives in another region, but each of us wants our loved ones to be well and that health workers can work in the best possible way ".

"In December with these measures it is possible to make the entire system safe by crossing the vaccination campaign in the spring, but to do so we cannot allow slowdowns. I am for clear and uninterpretable rules".

The Minister for Regional Affairs then, when asked if he will go to Puglia, his homeland for the Christmas holidays, replies: "If the rules say that you cannot move, I will stay in Rome at Christmas. hug with my parents and relatives will come and if it will arrive on a different day than usual, I think everyone will understand ". 

Minister Boccia then calls for compliance with the measures in reference to the crowd that took place this weekend in the shopping streets of Lombardy and Piedmont: "The reaction is natural, there is an understandable desire to go back around. it is natural to disregard the rules and social distancing ".

Rigorous also with regard to New Year's: "If we decide that there is a time limit for travel, that we go home regardless of what needs to be done: is New Year to be celebrated? We celebrate at home "says Boccia.
