The elected US President Joe Biden sprained his right ankle while playing with his German Shepherd and sustained small stress fractures in his foot.

It can therefore be assumed that Biden would have to wear a boot-like orthopedic support shoe "for several weeks", explained doctor Kevin O'Connor in a statement distributed by Biden's office.

This made it possible that Biden would still have to wear the support shoe at his planned inauguration on January 20th.

Two small foot bones, so-called cuneiform bones (os cuneiforme), as the doctor further explained, were affected by the "hairline cracks".

Biden first visited an orthopedic surgeon in Newark in the state of Delaware late on Sunday afternoon (local time).

X-rays initially showed no break.

The small breaks were then detected during an examination with an MRI scanner.

According to his office, the 78-year-old was injured on Saturday while playing with his German shepherd dog "Major".

According to US media reports, Biden had adopted the dog from a shelter in 2018.

Journalists who followed Biden to the practice on Sunday could not see Biden entering the building.

A representative from Biden's office said the president-elect had the injury investigated on Sunday so that his scheduled appointments for Monday would not be affected.

Democrat Biden and his wife Jill have two sheepdogs, "Champ" and "Major", who are due to move into the White House with them in January.

During the election campaign, Biden even made fun of incumbent President Donald Trump in a tweet for having previously made derogatory comments about a President's dogs in the White House.

The Bidens also reportedly want to get a cat before moving to the White House.

Biden relies entirely on women for his communication team

Biden is currently preparing to take over government.

For example, on Sunday evening, almost at the same time as his injury became known, he announced the heads of the designated communications team at the White House.

Jen Psaki is said to be government spokeswoman.

She was in the administration of the former Democratic President Barack Obama, among other things, communications director of the White House and spokeswoman for the State Department.

"I'm proud to announce today the first high-level communications team in the White House to feature women only," said Biden.

The “qualified and experienced” candidates bring different approaches and a common will to bring the country forward, said Biden.

Harris said, “These communications professionals represent our promise to create a White House that reflects the best of our country

Trump tackles Georgia Republican governor

Trump has meanwhile verbally attacked the Republican governor of Georgia.

Brian Kemp did "absolutely nothing" to challenge the result of the presidential election in the southern state, Trump complained in an interview with the news channel Fox News, which was broadcast over the weekend.

He is ashamed of having supported Kemp's application for governorship in 2018.

Back then, the Republican narrowly prevailed over Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams.

In Georgia, Joe Biden had left incumbent Trump behind by around 12,670.

This was the first time in almost 30 years that a democratic presidential candidate won the state.

Trump makes baseless allegations that illegally cast votes cost him victory in Georgia and other contested states.

In a number of countries, however, his legal challenges to the results came to nothing.

In Georgia on January 5th, important runoff elections for the two Senate seats of the southern state are due.

The Democrats hope for surprise successes against the two Republican incumbents.

If the two Democratic candidates succeed, there would be a tie of 50 to 50 in the Washington Senate. In this case, the future Vice President - Democrat Kamala Harris - decides if there is a stalemate in votes.

Who is in control of the Senate is extremely important.

Because the elected President Joe Biden would not be able to get through many of his plans if a Republican-controlled Senate blocked them again and again.

The Chamber of Parliament not only has to approve important bills, it also has to confirm personal details, such as those of judges at the Supreme Court or ministers.

Wisconsin recount paid by Trump team results in Biden winning vote

The incumbent US president did not gain any votes in the partial recounting of votes in the state of Wisconsin, which Trump requested and paid for.

After the recount in the Milwaukee and Dane districts, however, the Democrat Joe Biden gained 87 votes, as the local newspaper "Milwaukee Journal Sentinel" reported on Sunday.

In Milwaukee, Biden won 132 votes, in Dane the Republican Trump secured 45 votes.

The electoral authority published an overview of all deviations in individual polling stations on its website.

Biden won the election in the northern state with around three million votes cast by a good 20,000 votes.

Trump's election campaign team paid three million dollars in advance for the partial recount, as the election commission had declared.

The recount should be completed by Tuesday.

In 2016, Trump had just won the state.

Wisconsin has the votes of ten electors in the presidential election.

According to the results so far, Biden leads nationwide with 306 to 232 votes.

He needs at least 270 votes to win.

The electoral college, which ultimately determines the president, will vote on December 14th.

A second vote recount is currently ongoing in the southern state of Georgia.

If, as expected, the results of the first recount are confirmed, the 16 electorate of the state also went to Biden as forecast.
