Neubrandenburg / Rostock / Schwerin (dpa / mv) - At temperatures just above zero degrees in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, around 1000 people protested against "excessive corona restrictions" on Monday evening.

As police spokesman in Rostock and Neubrandenburg announced, there were protests in Rostock, Schwerin, Güstrow, Neubrandenburg, Waren an der Müritz and Stralsund.

With around 350 participants, the protest walk in Rostock was the most popular.

In Schwerin the motto was "Back to democracy immediately".

During the walks, slogans such as "Peace, freedom, self-determination" were shouted.

Occasionally there were counter-actions by small left groups, but they remained problem-free, it said.

According to the police, there were no significant violations of the Infection Protection Act or other legal requirements among the demonstrators.

In Neubrandenburg, the participants marched through the southern part of the city with torches.

The minimum distances were pointed out several times there, but according to the assembly authorities, the participants did not have to wear mouth and nose protection outdoors.

In the northeast there are still the fewest confirmed coronavirus infections nationwide.

The weekly value on Monday was 46.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

A central protest action was planned in Schwerin on December 5th, it said.
