The Church's campaign against the LGBTQ movement has provoked strong reactions among activists in Poland.

When SVT visits the Church of the Holy Cross in Warsaw, the church is guarded by riot police with bulletproof vests and automatic rifles.

The reason is that the church felt threatened by a lone man who had long stood outside draped in a rainbow flag, in protest against the church's actions against LGBTQ people.

- If we stop respecting our values, the law must intervene. The police are here to preserve the social order, says Zygmunt Robert Berdychowskit, who is a priest in the church.
