The Santa Parade in Skara usually attracts between 6,000 and 8,000 people.

It is usually about 700 meters long and has, without further proof, been called Europe's largest parade of elves by the organizers.

Today, no one really remembers when it started.

- It has probably been running since the 60s or 70s, says Björn Jacobsson in the Lions club in Skara who arranges the parade.

In 2007, we told SVT that it was organized for the 26th time in a row, but that figure may have referred to how long Lions have taken care of the event.

The Santa Parade was originally started by local traders.

- We had hoped to be able to do something easier this year, but with the latest restrictions, it is clear that it would have been irresponsible. So we have canceled and are now aiming for next year instead, says Björn Jacobsson.
