Düren / Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee narrowly missed a surprise in the volleyball Bundesliga.

In the highly rated SWD powervolleys Düren, the Brandenburgers lost 2: 3 (25:16, 16:25, 25:19, 22:25, 13:15) after leading the set twice on Sunday.

Because of the two sets won, the guests took at least one point home with them.

Three weeks ago, the Netzhoppers defeated the Rhinelander 3-2 in the second round of the Cup after a 2-0 set deficit.

The Netzhoppers put their opponent under pressure with hard serves in the first set and on top of that did solid work in the field defense.

After a point from setter Byron Keturakis, the guests were in the lead in the second technical break 16:10, James Weir then increased to 17:10.

Despite a small intermediate high from Düren, the cup semi-finalist from Brandenburg kept everything under control until the end of the set.

The Netzhoppers quickly recovered from the second round, which was clearly lost after a 13:13 intermediate result.

At the end of the third section, it was above all the ex-Düren Karli Allik who gave the guests the impetus to win the set 25:19 with his serves.

But Düren saved himself in the tiebreaker.

The outcome of the decision set was open until 9: 9, then the host set himself two points ahead and could not be denied this narrow lead.
