Daun (dpa / lrs) - The mayoral election of the community of Daun in the Vulkaneifel district will be decided on December 13th in a runoff between Thomas Scheppe (CDU) and Jens Jenssen (SPD).
None of the applicants got the required majority on Sunday, the election management announced in the evening.
44.3 percent voted for Scheppe and 32.7 percent voted for Jenssen.
The third applicant was Tim Becker.
He came to 23 percent.
The association has 18,700 eligible voters.
The new mayor succeeds Werner Klöckner (61 / CDU), who retired after 26 years in the summer for health reasons.
The new mayor should take up office as soon as possible.
