The number of new corona infections confirmed in Hamburg rose by 104 on Sunday.

The important warning value - the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days - fell from 116.3 on Friday to 109.3 on Saturday to 105.7 on Sunday, as the health authority announced.

From a value of 50 onwards, a region is considered a risk area; in its peak dispute, Hamburg reported more than 160 as the incidence figure - the downward trend has recently become increasingly clear.

Most recently, Hamburg's mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) praised the Hamburgers for their discipline in observing the corona containment rules and emphasized that the development in the second largest metropolis in Germany is better than in other cities and also some large states.

On Saturday, the number of registered new corona infections rose by 300.

A week ago there were 433 new cases on Saturday and 172 on Sunday. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 24,710 people in Hamburg have been shown to have been infected with the corona virus.

Around 16,000 of them are now considered recovered.

As of Friday, 312 corona patients were treated in Hamburg's hospitals and clinics, three more than on Thursday.

79 patients were in intensive care units.

The number of people who have died of Covid-19 in Hamburg since the beginning of the pandemic has remained unchanged at 281.

As of Sunday, the RKI reported 372 deaths for the Hanseatic city.

In schools, too, the corona load is falling proportionally to developments overall.

The number of students infected with Corona in Hamburg rose by 42 within a day.

In addition, six employees were infected on Thursday, the school authorities announced on Friday.

A total of 37 schools are affected, and quarantine measures have been initiated for three classes.

A total of 403 of around 256,000 students are currently infected.

That corresponds to a rate of 0.16 percent.

In the case of school employees, it is reportedly 81 out of around 34,400, which corresponds to a share of 0.24 percent.

On Sunday, school senator Ties Rabe (SPD) pointed out a problem for school leavers.

Only around 36 percent of school leavers after grade 10 from district or special needs schools started training immediately after leaving school.

Due to the Corona crisis and the difficult conditions on the training market, the transition rate is almost nine percent below the previous year's figure.

"For years the transition rate stagnated at 25 percent, thanks to numerous school reforms we were able to increase it to around 40 percent in recent years, but Corona has thrown us back again," said Rabe.
