A new UAE system for monitoring "personal protection products" before the government

The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology confirmed.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, said that the authority has prepared a draft Emirati system for personal health protection products, which specifies the technical requirements and standard specifications to be adhered to and the requirements for obtaining conformity certificates, based on the Ministerial Council for Development Resolution of 2020 which stipulated Assigning the authority to complete the development of the specifications and standards required for products and health protection requirements that provide protection, prevention and control of infection transmission, which includes antimicrobial products, in addition to other health protection products.

In a written response to a parliamentary question during the Federal National Council session, which was held last Thursday, the minister stated that the Emirati system project clarifies the roles and responsibilities of federal and local government agencies in following up and monitoring the companies ’commitment to implementing the standard specifications approved in the country, in order to achieve integration according to the terms of reference. These entities and their non-interference and to achieve the public interest of society in offering and circulating safe, healthy and effective products for consumers, indicating that this system was submitted last September to the Council of Ministers for approval according to procedures.

The written response included the products included in the Emirati system project for personal health protection products, the objectives of this system, the responsibility for controlling these products, and the specialists.
