Heinsberg (dpa / lnw) - Critics of the corona measures demonstrated in the city of Heinsberg over the weekend.

A police spokesman said on Sunday that significantly fewer people came to the registered rallies than expected.

On Sunday only 50 instead of 350 people came to a rally that the initiative “lateral thinking” had registered.

A demonstration procession registered by the same organizer was not allowed to start - the Aachen administrative court had confirmed a corresponding ban by the public order office on Friday due to "considerable risk of infection".

A smaller demonstration with ten participants had also been registered for late Sunday afternoon.

About a dozen critics of the Corona measures demonstrated in the city center on Saturday.

100 demonstrators were expected here.

The Heinsberg district made headlines at the beginning of the year because many people there had apparently contracted the virus during a carnival celebration.

In the spring, it had become one of the first German corona hotspots.
