November 28, 2020Thousands of people demonstrated yesterday in Santiago de Chile demanding the resignation of conservative president Sebastian Pinera, amid violent clashes with the police.

About 10,000 people convened via social networks gathered in the streets near the government headquarters, contained by a strong presence of law enforcement, to march on the Alameda, the main artery of the Chilean capital.

The police - writes the Ansa - used tear gas and water cannons to disperse groups of hooded men who threw stones at them and set fire to bus stops.

Dozens of protesters who inhaled the chemicals became ill, according to reporters present.
