- The sea trout has had it quite difficult in recent years. We have had three "dry summers" in a row.

So the survival in these watercourses has been very low, says Peter Landergren, county fishing consultant at the county administrative board on Gotland.

The game was delayed

The normal protection period for sea trout extends from 1 October to 31 December.

This is when the fish usually seek out watercourses to reproduce.

But due to low water flows in rivers and streams along the coasts, the sea trout's "spawning period" has been delayed.

The group "Fiskeförvaltning Gotland", which includes the county administrative board on Gotland and several fishing organizations, now advises against fishing even after the ban period, until January.
