At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko, in a conversation with RIA Novosti, said that in order to develop population immunity to coronavirus, Russians will need to vaccinate those who have already been ill.
The minister recalled that cases of repeated COVID-19 disease are recorded.
“Therefore, while shaping population immunity, we must understand that people who fell ill in the spring, those who have borne the disease easily, will also require vaccination,” he said.
The head of the department stressed that everything is being done in Russia to end the epidemic of coronavirus infection in the country in 2021.
Combating COVID-19 in the Regions
Russian regions continue to extend or take new restrictive measures to combat the spread of coronavirus, based on the epidemiological situation.
So, the government of the Trans-Baikal Territory announced the extension of the self-isolation regime for residents over 65 years old until February 7, 2021.
The regional government noted that older citizens “are increasingly being diagnosed with a new coronavirus infection, and the disease can be severe.
The regime of self-isolation for elderly Russians and citizens with chronic diseases until December 14 was also extended by the Ulyanovsk authorities.
In the region, there is a restriction on the work of catering organizations from 22:00 to 7:00, as well as on New Year's events.
In the Moscow region, restrictive measures introduced due to the situation with the spread of COVID-19 have been extended until December 13.
Governor Andrei Vorobyov's decree specifies that it is about extending the self-isolation regime for people over 65 and those with a number of chronic diseases.
In addition, measures include distance learning at universities and colleges in the Moscow region, a ban on sports and entertainment events with spectators and a ban on visiting museums.
The Governor of the Tomsk Region, Sergei Zhvachkin, also extended the regime of restrictions in the region until January 31, 2021.
In the region, a mandatory mask regime continues to operate in public transport, in shops and in public places, as well as a self-isolation regime for people over 65 and a ban on public events.
On the eve, Mikhail Murashko noted that it makes no sense to introduce a total mask regime throughout Russia.
“The mask regime in Russia is strictly regulated by the orders of the chief sanitary doctor.
We have developed, among other things, a flexible system for introducing certain restrictions in the regions, ”the minister explained.
In turn, Alexander Gorelov, deputy director for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel, said that the mask regime in Russia will remain until the coronavirus infection becomes seasonal.
“Until the moment when the spread of the virus will not acquire such proportions, when it becomes a common seasonal rhinitis,” he said.
Answering the question whether the incidence can decline in winter due to low temperatures, the specialist explained that the climatic factor has little effect on the spread of infection, since the coronavirus "does not live in the cold, but in the human body."
