It really started calling the police in western Sweden at 6.40 pm on Saturday, which NyheterSTO was the first to report on.

- We've had a lot of calls.

It has called from Tjörn, Stenungsund and Vänersborg, among others, says Ann-Christin Löfstrand, officer on duty at police region West.

Of course, many wondered: What was it that really slammed?

And where did the sudden bright light come from?

The police do not have the picture completely clear at the moment, but there is no question of a suspected crime here.

- Recently it was something similar, and then it was seen in several places around the country.

So maybe it was something similar.

"The fireball has fallen west of Gothenburg"

The newspaper Dagens Nyheter reports that it is precisely a bright meteor, a so-called bolide, that has entered the atmosphere.

The phenomenon must have been seen all the way from Trondheim in the north to parts of Denmark in the south.

The Norwegian meteor network writes on its website that it has received a number of observations from events, and several of the network's meteor cameras have registered light phenomena:

"We will investigate further, but this is probably a temporary meteor"

Late on Saturday night, the Norwegian Meteor Network updated its event report:

"Preliminary calculations suggest that the fireball went close to the Swedish west coast and fell over the sea, west of Gothenburg."
