The Russian Information Agency quoted the Defense Ministry as saying today, Saturday, that Russia rushed to send a "Sukhoi-27" fighter plane, to intercept an American "RC-135" (RC-135) reconnaissance plane that flew over neutral waters. In the Black Sea, near the territorial waters of Russia.

Moscow said its warplane returned to its base after the US reconnaissance plane moved away from the Russian border.

The current year witnessed an increase in similar military incidents between the Russian and American armies in the Black Sea region, and other regions in the world, and these incidents occurred mainly in the air, as well as at sea and on land.

Maritime accident

Last Tuesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the anti-submarine ship of the Pacific Fleet "Admiral Vinogradov" had issued several warnings to the destroyer "John S. McCain" of the US Navy, after it violated the Russian naval borders in Petros the Great Bay in the far east of Russia.

Moscow described the incident as a clear provocation, while the US Navy rejected the Russian narrative, and said that the destroyer left the region after its operation there, and the US Navy said that Russia has no right to claim that this area is its territorial waters.

Since June 2020, Al-Jazeera Net has counted 5 interceptions by the Russian army against American aircraft in different regions, especially the Black Sea, as two interceptions were recorded last September, one last August, and two in June. Last June.

Alaska and Syria

On the other hand, the American F-22 intercepted a Russian military Tu-142 near the coast of the US state of Alaska at the end of last August, and the US military said that the Russian plane had entered State air defense district.

In the same month, the US Army Command for North America said it was monitoring the activity of a Russian submarine that floated to the surface in international waters near the coast of Alaska.

In mid-June, a report by the American Military News website, which specializes in military affairs, stated that American fighters had intercepted Russian warplanes near Alaska for the fourth time in one week.

These incidents were not limited to Russia and the United States in the air and at sea, but also on land. Last August, America said that 7 of its soldiers were injured when a Russian military patrol collided with their vehicle in Hasaka governorate, in the far northeast of Syria.

While Washington condemned the incident and considered it a violation of the safety protocols agreed upon with Moscow, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the US military tried to obstruct the Russian patrol, adding that it had notified the US-led international coalition about the movements of the Russian patrol.
