If Poland is one of the countries that tests the least in the European Union, the percentage of tests that come back positive is the highest in the EU, it has exceeded 50% several times.

A trend that

greatly

worries

Jaroslaw Fedorowski, of the Federation of Polish Hospitals.

“

The situation is almost critical, because there is still not a significant drop in the number of people hospitalized, and there is still a high number of deaths among the population.

The most complicated situation is in the big cities,

 ”he explains.

According to an OECD report, the Polish elderly population is the one with the most chronic diseases in the EU, in a country with a number of caregivers per capita below the European average.

“

The biggest challenge is the hospital staff.

We have enough equipment but our doctors are tired, they get sick from Covid or other diseases.

Because in Poland, the medical staff is rather old, around fifty years on average

 ”, details Jaroslaw Fedorowski.

And in the face of a second severe wave, the Polish government has decided to limit the number of guests to five for the holiday season.
