"Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed the hope that the region will develop, because it is native to Serhiy Hrynevetsky and he, like no one else, knows all the issues and needs of the region," the office of the President of Ukraine said in a statement.

Prior to that, the head of the regional administration was Maxim Kutsy, whom the president fired on November 5.

Grinevetsky held the same position in 1998-2005.

Zelensky also appointed Aina Timchuk as the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

Earlier, Zelensky appointed a new head of the Nikolaev region.
