E-commerce grew by 33 percent in October compared to the same time last year in terms of consumers' own estimates, according to the E-barometer.

- It is not something that is temporary, but it is the beginning of something that will continue, says Minister of Trade and Industry Ibrahim Baylan (S) to SVT News.

"Are there concerns from small traders"

At the same time, Amazon - which has almost half of the e-commerce market in the US - has recently launched here in Sweden.

And now the government is giving the Swedish Competition Authority the task of monitoring e-commerce and ensuring that it continues to take place on equal terms.

- The most important thing is that we have fair competition, and we know that there are concerns from small traders about what this means.

That is why it is important for me as Minister of Trade and Industry to ensure that our authorities follow this so that it can take place on the same terms, says Ibrahim Baylan.

Sees pricing and competition

The Swedish Competition Authority's assignment is based on issues such as price formation, market power and competition on equal terms.

The assignment also includes reporting any need for improvement measures.

By the end of September next year at the latest, the authority must report the assignment to the government.

- If it turns out that there is unfair competition or that you are trying to get rid of competitors, then you must propose measures to benefit customers.
