Berlin (AP) - The Bundeswehr is investigating the suspicion of politically and extremistly motivated misconduct by soldiers of the tank training brigade 9. It is said to be a chat group of 16 non-commissioned officers and 10 team ranks, according to a briefing given by the defense ministry to the officers in the Bundestag.

They are said to have exchanged views on the glorification of violence, pornography, anti-Semitism and right-wing extremism.

The letter has been submitted to the German Press Agency in Berlin.

Immediately after the events became known, the superiors initiated the necessary disciplinary investigations. The responsible military disciplinary and public prosecutor's offices as well as the military counter-intelligence service (MAD) were involved. So far, three soldiers have been banned from wearing uniforms and performing their duties. According to the letter, many of the suspected soldiers belong to the 141 supply battalion in Neustadt am Rübenberge in Lower Saxony.
