Embarrassing files are piling up on Gerald Darmanin's desk.

After the very controversial law on "Global Security", relating to the dissemination of the image of the police, and the muscular dismantling of a migrant camp Monday evening Place de la République, here is a new case police blunder poisons the affairs of Place Beauvau.

Images published by the Loopsider website showing a black man being beaten by police officers on Saturday in the entrance of a music studio in Paris, circulated on social networks and ignited the left wing of the class Politics.

And even beyond.

Some football stars, like Antoine Griezmann or Kylian Mbappé, have gone out of their usual reserve to express their anger on social networks.

It is a new piece that we bring to the file of the aggression of Michel Zecler.

This video of a neighbor shows the aggression and its incredible violence from another angle.

Gérald Darmanin, pyromaniac firefighter

?

Under fire from critics, Gérald Darmanin had to go to 20 hours of France 2 to extinguish the flames and give pledges of firmness to the police involved.

During a perilous balancing act, Gérald Darmanin therefore, on the one hand, assured the police institution of his support and condemned, on the other, the agents who slip.

"When there are people messing around, they must leave the uniform, said the minister in a language that Nicolas Sarkozy would not have denied. They must be punished. They must leave this job. They must be punished by justice ", assenanced the first cop in France.

Not sure that the announcement Thursday of the precautionary suspension of the four police officers involved in this case is not enough to calm the general indignation.

"Each day confirms a little more the unacceptable, storm on his side David Belliard, deputy mayor of Paris, on Twitter. It is no longer the time for complacency of any kind with police violence. Prefect Lallement and Minister Darmanin must resign. "

🇫🇷 Anne Sophie Lapix facing #Darmanin:

"- should he (Lallement) resign?

- (minister) I am not a man looking for fuses or scapegoats (...)

- and you, have you considered resigning?

In this context, isn't Gérald Darmanin becoming too cumbersome within Macronie?

"It is still early to say, but from a very strategic point of view, even cynical, at a time when Emmanuel Macron seeks to seduce his right-wing electorate, Gérald Darmanin embodies better than Castaner this security component which was lacking in the President until then, estimates Benjamin Morel, lecturer in public law at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, in an interview with France 24. He therefore has no reason to part with it, even if these questions irritate the left wing of his electorate. "

Emmanuel Macron "shocked"

And the academic to continue, "with the economic crisis that took hold in France following the pandemic, Emmanuel Macron can no longer rely on a good economic record to be re-elected. He has no other. choice than to fully invest on the security side ".

Recent opinion polls on article 24 of the “Global Security” law show that the majority of the right-wing electorate mostly supports the content of the text.

To reassure the latter scalded, nothing like a summons from the Minister of the Interior to the Elysee.

"It is a good operation which allows him both the president to act of authority in front of his right-wing electorate and to display himself as a defender of freedoms in front of his left wing", continues the political scientist.

Standing aside until then, Emmanuel Macron even went so far as to come out of his silence on Friday and say he was "very shocked" by the images of the beating.

In order to calm a little more the ardor of a reassembled majority, Gérald Darmanin must still be heard Monday before the Laws Committee of the Assembly on this recent violence, as well as on the unceremonious evacuation of the migrant camp of the place of the Republic.

France's reputation damaged on the international scene

Nevertheless, these security abuses annoy more and more within the majority, even the government.

After their disagreement on the use of the term "wild", the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, once again distanced himself from his counterpart from the Interior, saying he was "scandalized by these images" and recognized that, without them, "we would not have known" this affair.

"We must film," he concluded, carefully avoiding commenting on article 24, the very constitutionality of which is questioned by many jurists.

The thorny article 24 of the law on "Global Security" has managed, in a few days, to defeat the majority, weaken government solidarity and oppose the Prime Minister to the President of the National Assembly.

"Much more than the case of police violence, article 24 risks overwhelming the parliamentary majority and giving rise to a major political crisis," said Benjamin Morel.

The fact remains that beyond these internal concerns, the president's teams are very worried about the damage caused internationally by these various security sequences, reports Le Monde.

France has already been lectured by three rapporteurs from the UN Human Rights Council about the proposed law.

An advertisement that Paris would do well, at a time when France defends the conditioning of the European recovery plan and intends to give lessons on respect for the rule of law to Hungary and Poland.
