Augsburg / Saarbrücken (dpa) - A 29-year-old man is said to have lured young women from Romania and Hungary to Germany and forced them into prostitution in Saarland and Bavaria.

The alleged human trafficker was arrested in a hotel in Augsburg, the police announced on Friday.

The man had therefore been wanted by arrest warrant.

The investigators accuse the 29-year-old, who comes from Romania, to have brought women between the ages of 19 to 20 years from the Romanian-Hungarian border area to Germany under false pretenses.

With threats, humiliation and physical violence, the women are said to have been forced into prostitution, the police also announced.

The victims should have handed over the income from prostitution.

The 29-year-old is considered the main suspect, the investigation had led the police to a group of perpetrators.

The police are looking for a 28-year-old accomplice and a 30-year-old accomplice across Europe.

They are accused of commercial and gang trafficking as well as forced prostitution, it said.

According to the police, two other suspects and eight victims of human trafficking had been identified in Augsburg.

A spokesman for the police could not say how many women have been victims of human trafficking in total.
