Munich (dpa / lby) - After the extension of the nationwide partial lockdown due to the persistently high number of corona infections, the Bavarian state parliament is meeting today for a special session.

At the beginning, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) will make another government statement, followed by a discussion and advice on applications.

Legally, the vote on the urgency motions tabled by the political groups is not binding.

The Federal Infection Protection Act gives the state governments the option of their own Corona ordinances, but it does not provide for legislative powers for the state parliaments.

Nevertheless, such a vote should in principle give more weight to debates in the state parliament - and, conversely, help the state government gain additional political legitimation.

After the federal-state agreement on Wednesday evening, the Bavarian cabinet decided on Thursday to extend and tighten the partial lockdown and the strict contact restrictions for the Free State.
