The 57-year-old disappeared on July 25 this year and the Coast Guard, the Armed Forces, the police and Missing people immediately launched an extensive search operation in the area around Karlskrona - with a special focus on the archipelago.

On November 4, remains were found on Varö in Karlskrona - and a DNA analysis could then identify the body of the 57-year-old.

As SVT Nyheter Blekinge previously revealed, it was one of the two detained men, the 22-year-old, who, through information in interrogation, led the police to the body find.

Both he and the 21-year-old who is also in custody on suspicion of the murder had until then denied any knowledge of what was first classified as a kidnapping.

In early November, the 22-year-old suddenly changed his mind.

He then chose to cooperate with the police instead.

His story has since, for the police and prosecutors, been important in the continued investigation work and in the police's efforts to map the 57-year-old's last night in life.

- I can confirm that my client has made some concessions.

It is a contributing and perhaps crucial part in getting clarity in the investigation, says the 22-year-old's defense lawyer Eric Widner.

Technical analysis ready

The prosecutor's picture of the course of events has become clear and it is now clear that the 57-year-old was beaten to death by "blunt force".

According to SVT's sources, the crime scene must be the home that has been the investigators' main trail since disappearances.

Immediately after the disappearance, traces of blood, which could be linked to the 57-year-old, were also found in the home.

The technical analysis is now complete and the results show more extensive blood traces at the site, something that the early answers also indicated.

- What I can say is that the answers presented strengthen the suspicions both in terms of crime scene and the two suspects' involvement, prosecutor Anna Johansson told SVT at the end of October.

She does not want to comment further at this time.

Denies crime

The 21-year-old's lawyer Karl Hamstedt says that his client stands by his previous attitude and denies any wrongdoing.

- His story has not changed.

How do you see the 22-year-old now cooperating with the police investigators?

- I have no knowledge of that.
