Rostock (dpa / mv) - According to a survey by the State Tourism Association of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, opening up many accommodation providers with only guests from their own state is often not economical.

This relates to a possible opening for the period from December 21 to the end of the year, as the association announced on Friday evening.

According to this, 83 percent of the around 350 companies that took part in the survey stated this.

On Saturday, the state government in Schwerin will meet with various representatives, including from tourism, on how to proceed with the corona pandemic.

The tourism association hopes for a longer-term perspective for the winter than the previously announced extension of the partial lockdown until December 20th.

As a result, tourists are still not allowed to stay overnight in the state, restaurateurs are only allowed to sell or deliver outside the home.

It is not yet clear whether the hotels will be allowed to open over Christmas.

According to the tourism association, the question arises as to whether it might make sense to open these areas only to people from their own state at the end of the year.

According to the survey, around 40 percent of the tourism businesses in the state would open, even if this did not pay off.

Association managing director Tobias Woitendorf said on Friday, according to the announcement, that if the medium-term timetable is missing, clarity for the holidays should at least be found quickly.

Companies need planning security.
