Berlin (dpa / bb) - Burning candles at Christmas time not only promise a homely atmosphere, but are also associated with dangers.
In just three minutes, the flames of a burning Advent wreath can spread to furniture and other objects, warns the Berlin fire brigade.
At this point, the flames could no longer be extinguished with a fire extinguisher.
The fire brigade recommends setting up wreaths and arrangements on fireproof surfaces and at a sufficient distance from flammable objects.
Burning candles should be watched at all times.
Fir green should be moistened regularly to prevent it from drying out.
