Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - After they are said to have used the so-called police scam to get three senior citizens out of cash and gold bars worth around 200,000 euros, three men must answer before the Frankfurt Regional Court.

The indictment was read out at the start of the trial on Friday.

The men, aged 24, 28, and 32, sent word through their defense attorneys that they would testify.

A total of six acts are charged.

Three are said to have succeeded, according to the indictment the others remained in the attempt because the victims were suspicious.

The arrest was finally made in January of this year.

While the 24- and 32-year-old should only have acted as a collector, the 28-year-old had a certain management function according to the indictment. The victims were asked by alleged police officers from telephone exchanges in Turkey to hand over money and valuables to "colleagues" in front of the apartment door because burglar gangs or unfaithful bank employees were up to mischief. The criminal chamber has initially scheduled five more trial days until the end of December.
